Therapy FAQs
First, you will connect with the therapist for a free consultation call.
When an appointment is scheduled, the first visit will be an intake evaluation during which the therapist asks questions about what you are experiencing so that we can get a good idea of what is going on in your life, and what you might need help with.
During the next appointment we will set some goals, and establish a plan as to how to reach these.
The following visits will be when you talk about what is bothering you, and begin working toward your goals for improving your emotional health and well being.
Following the consultation call and scheduling the first appointment, you will receive a portal link via email. Follow the link to create an account, set preferences, and access information such as appointments and messages.
How frequently you go to therapy depends on how you are feeling and where you are with regard to your goals. This is something you and the therapist will decide on at the end of each visit.
Join a session by clicking on the link sent to you. If you would prefer to connect via a mobile device you can download a free, secure, HIPAA compliant app for iPhone or Android and will receive the same link to join a session.
*Please be sure to set aside time and a private space where you feel safe so that you can meet with your therapist.
There are several ways to schedule an appointment by following the link at the top of the Contact Us page.
During the consultation call we will assess if in person or online therapy is a good fit for you, and if I am the best therapist to help you reach your goals.
If we schedule an appointment, at this time we will also collect your contact and payment information and following, you will receive a portal link so that you can access your information securely online.
Appointments usually last 60 minutes.
How many sessions a person needs depends on their treatment goals. Usually people can work through their problems over the course of several months. With less severe issues, treatment time might be fewer sessions.
Your privacy is important, and it is your choice whether or not to share information with others about your time in counseling.
I am required to protect your privacy, and will not tell anyone you are my client or what we discuss in session.
There are a few exceptions, which we will discuss in detail during your intake appointment (eg: suspicion of child or elder abuse, danger to self or others) and these are outlined in your initial paperwork.
Our offices are located at
- 25 College Street, Monteagle Tennessee 37356
- 24 Mountain View Drive, Jasper Tennessee 37347
In person appointments are welcome. Follow the Contact Us link for a map and additional information.
Also available: online therapy (computer, phone) via secure app or telephone.
Financial FAQs
Health insurance usually pays some or all of the costs associated with mental health counseling. Depending on your policy, there might be a copay or coinsurance due at the time of your appointment.
If you plan to use your FSA, HSA or self-pay, the cost will depend on the length and amount of sessions, and prior to the first appointment you will be provided with a Good Faith Estimate regarding fees.
If you are using health insurance to offset the cost of counseling, it is important that you know how it works.
The insurance company requires the therapist to provide a mental health diagnosis, and share some information about what we are working on during sessions so they will pay us for services we provide.
If you are uncomfortable with sharing this information, other payment options include using your FSA, HSA or self-pay (a superbill is available upon request).
Payment can be made via cash, check, debit card, credit card, FSA/HSA.
At this time we accept:
- Blue Advantage
- BlueCross and BlueShield
- Cigna EAP
- Cigna and Evernorth
- Medicare
- Optum

Also out of network benefits, FSA, HSA (superbill available by request).
